New Hope Church - Lorton, VA

  Skorpa Design Studio was commissioned by New Hope Church in July of 2005 to complete the design of their new worship facility located on Ox Road in Fairfax County Virginia.  The Church, currently meeting at a local high school, was looking for a design that would support and enhance both the spiritual life of their  members as well as their mission of becoming a “hub” of activity and service for the community.

The church’s plan includes a new 700 seat sanctuary, an 80 child daycare facility, a large central lobby/fellowship area, office and ministry space, and a large meeting area with adjacent “break out” rooms.  A second phase will include a large gym/fellowship hall with a full service kitchen as well as additional classrooms.

Our design intent was to create a building that would reflect the unique nature of the church and its ministry.  While the forms we chose are not “traditional” Church forms, we did use a “cross” to organize the floor plan of the building.  This strong form provides the backdrop for the entire design.

This project was completed and dedicated in July of  2008.
