Dr. Bob's Place - A Hospice for Children, Baltimore MD
Skorpa Design Studio was commissioned by the Joseph Richey House in June of 2005 to design a new hospice facility for children. This ground breaking project will be one of the first of its kind in the United States.
The hospice owns several parcels of land to the rear of their existing offices on N. Eutaw Street in Baltimore, Maryland. The plan calls for a 15,000 square foot additon to their existing offices located in two renovated historic rowhomes. The facility will include 10 patient rooms, a commercial kitchen, dining and recreation areas for families, a chapel, an outdoor patio area, and both indoor and outdoor play areas.
Our design intent was to create a building in an urban environment that still had access to natural light, views of green space and evoked images of “home” for children.
Construction on this project was completed in June of 2011.
